train stuck with radioactive waste

. Protest against nuclear in Piedmont. A group of protesters blocked this morning a train loaded with nuclear waste that was headed to France. The incident occurred before dawn, around five hours at the station Condove (Torino).

The trains have resumed travel at 6:40, when the protesters have removed the block and the convoy was able to share with the slag. Many commuters who were danneggiati dai ritardi provocati dalla manifestazione. Alcuni treni sono stati addirittura soppressi.
La protesta si è svolta senza grossi incidenti – è stato solo bruciato qualche copertone. Alcuni dei manifestanti sono stati identificati dalla Polizia Ferroviaria, la quale è prontamente giunta sul posto.
Le scorie nucleari, da quanto si è saputo, provenivano dal deposito di accumulo di Saluggia (Vercelli), un paese quattromila persone in cui si trova il reattore sperimentale ‘Avogrado RS-1’. Il reattore stesso è stato chiuso nel 1971 ed oggi costituisce un centro per lo stoccaggio di materiale irraggiato. Le scorie sono destinate ad alcuni French special centers where they will be covered, secured and then sent back to Italy. A program of disposal which should be executed until the early months of 2012.
